One potter,
one wheel,
a curious hare.

The Studio Harewood workspace

Studio Harewood was started in 2019 by Eleanor Tate in a sunlit warehouse space in Sydney's inner west. She is the studio's only potter — every piece is thrown, trimmed, glazed, and fired by her hands.

The work began with a single wheel and an interest in honest, useable objects: pots for breakfast, vases for foraged stems, bowls for soup at the end of a long walk.

The studio is named for the hares that crisscross the field behind the workshop — quiet, alert, a little bit playful. Like the pots, hopefully.

The making.

Pieces are thrown on a single Shimpo wheel, dried slowly under linen, and fired in a small electric kiln to cone 10. Glazes are mixed in the studio from local ash and iron-rich slips.

Nothing is made in a hurry. A mug takes about two weeks from clay to packed box. A vase, often longer.
